The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, also known as Camino Inca or Camino Inka, is a renowned hiking trail in Peru, culminating at the iconic Machu Picchu. Situated amidst the Andes mountain range, the trail traverses diverse Andean landscapes, including cloud forests and alpine tundra.
Despite its relatively short distance of 40km (25 miles), the trail presents a formidable challenge, with a significant portion of the route comprising steep, narrow paths at high altitudes.
Constructed by the Incan Empire, which once spanned vast territories encompassing parts of modern-day Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia, this 4-day trek on the Inca Trail is revered as the classic route to Machu Picchu.
